COMMUNITY

We believe it is important for those children with ‘the gift’ to get together and be with like minds as much as possible. At school they often feel isolated, segregated and very different. One of the children decided to call our efforts “The Fellowship of the Gift”.

Stay Connected !

It was so good to reinstate the Fellowship of the Gift Family activity … sailing in a Tall Shp from Sidney, BC. Make sure you subscribe to our monthly Newsletter for news of the next event. To subscribe visit HERE.

The Covid years halted our efforts, but in 2022, Nadine Schumont initiated her first Family Summer Camp weekend which was hugely popular, as you can see…

In the beginning we ran a daily summer camp week, and then progressed to a summer camp week on Bowen Island. Since then we have been to Camp Jubilee twice, Camp Elphinstone twice, Camp Latona and Camp Bow-Isle. We have enjoyed activities such as: llama trekking, kayaking, snow showing and shelter building, claymation filming, high ropes, low ropes, rappelling, swimming, team building, archery, canoeing, sky diving (in a wind tunnel) at Flyzone, going to Giants games, wide games, board games at Nognz, an Odyssey of the Mind challenge, a Salts experience, horseriding, campfires and lots of Gaga ball !

Thanks to the North Shore Community Foundation’s grant, we have been able to offer financial assistance, so that everyone can enjoy a fun-filled summer camp weekend, if they wish. We find that the children bond instantly, as they all have ‘the gift’ and the parents really enjoy the opportunity to share their similar experiences too. There is nothing to compare with the camaraderie and the comfort of being with like-minded children and adults!
