HOMESCHOOLERS:
Sue has had the privilege of taking part in the establishing of a homelearning program for a student who has been through a Davis program. The student’s mother joined NIDES (North Island Distance Education Service) and Daily Wonder (a system very much based on Waldorf Education).
NIDES has the advantage of keeping the student up with the BC curriculum, should the student re-enter mainstream schooling later one. They are extremely open to anything that will help their students. NIDES Mathematics curriculum and videos are exceptional. https://www.navigatenides.com/
Daily Wonder, being Waldorf based, is in Sue’s view, the perfect education system for any image-based thinker. They devote 4 weeks to a block on varying subjects (which tie in with the BC curriculum); they give the parent everything they could need day by day: videos, reading material etc and the children create their own ‘textbooks’. https://www.dailywonderhomelearning.com
NIDES has ‘approved’ the Daily Wonder program to meet the curriculum needs so they can follow the Daily Wonder Lesson Plan primarily and submit their work to their NIDES teacher who then marks off the competencies that they are meeting.
“This has been life changing for us …. this is the time of year for parent teacher interviews, and it was always so stressful and heart breaking! Today my heart was full and I know A is in the right place 😉”.
